Doesn’t that sound good?
To have a place you can get away to whenever you’re having a crappy day, or just need to recharge your battery.
What if I told you there is a destination you can travel to whenever you want and completely free of charge?
It’s called your imagination.
No wait! Don’t be disappointed. Just hear me out…please.
I have a sanctuary; it’s so ridiculously beautiful there. I go at least once a day, whenever I feel like I need to get away. Sometimes I go there first thing in the morning to meditate, because the meditation cushions are simply divine, like floating on a cloud. Sometimes I go there at night after a tough day, I lie on the grass (that feels more like soft tiny feathers) and stare up at the stars. The stars aren’t static there; they glide around the sky like in a slow dance.
Yes, I created this place in my imagination over two years ago, and it’s so amazing that I keep going back.
Don’t diss it till you try it.
Creative visualisation is life changing; it takes you out of your head and into your heart where your true imagination lives.
As first it seems hard, almost impossible for some, but isn’t that always the way when we’re challenged with something new that is completely unfamiliar?
All you need to do is this…
When you’re in bed, about to go to sleep, take a moment to close your eyes and imagine the most beautiful and safest place in the world. It could be a pimped out caravan on the top of a mountain, or a mystical castle floating on the ocean. It could be an old country house in a green valley or a luxury apartment in a cave under the ground.
Take your time, and let your imagination lead you there. Explore this magical place and see the details, the smells, the sensations, the furniture, the trees etc.
My sanctuary is in a beautiful meadow that has a shallow winding stream running around it, in the middle is a giant oak tree…so big that inside is a vast room that looks like the inside of a Moroccan tent, strewn with beautiful cushions and warm colourful lamps.
To get to my sanctuary I must cross a very small footbridge from this world to that one, and as soon as I cross over the reality of this world disappears.
My sanctuary is a meeting place, a place to reconnect with loved ones I have lost…my four dogs who passed away are always the first to greet me when I arrive. I see my dad, and my nana, and everyone else that I have loved who has moved on. And all my angels and spirit guides are always there to welcome me. They’re all very lucky, as they get to hang out there 24/7.
Maybe it does sound crazy to you, but my sanctuary is where some of my biggest spiritual shifts have taken place and no matter how crap the day has been, once I return from my sanctuary I am refreshed and have let go of all the negative nonsense. It’s when I’m there that I find the answers I’m searching for, and the peace and love I crave.
Maybe you should try it? What have you got to lose? And if you’re really brave you could comment here or send me a message and tell me about your sanctuary.
