“There is no need to go to India, or anywhere else, to find peace. You will find that deep place of silence right in your room, your garden, or even your bathtub” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.
We don’t notice how our lives are surrounded by constant noise, In fact it’s become so natural and normal to us that if we find ourselves in a place of quiet our instinct is to immediately fill it with something… the TV, music, the washing machine, or the sound of our own voice.
It’s as if we go out of our way to avoid the silence because we are so afraid to be alone with ourselves. But we couldn’t have got it more wrong if we tried.
Transformation, illumination, and positive change…these beautiful things all happen when we allow ourselves to stay in silence for a moment and just be.
I’m not saying you need to pack your bags and go to a silent retreat if you want a life of love & light. You don’t need to go to that extreme in order to transform your life.
Ten minutes of meditation can have a profound effect on your life. Just ten minutes of meditation a day can do the trick; can make the miracle happen. It’s just ten minutes so there’s so point trying to justify that you are too busy, and your day's too full.
Just set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than usual and be still before you start your day. If you stick to it and do it every day the transformation will astound you.
Don't let the fact you've never meditated stop you, or the fact you struggle with it or suck at it. That was me once upon a time!
I started by using the app Headspace on my phone, and have since moved on to the app Calm...both are great to get you into a routine of doing ten minutes of meditation every day.
Silence is not empty space, silence is full of magic and miracles. It is in silence where your questions will be answered, and your soul will recharge and transform. It is in silence where you will find peace, love and joy.
It's all in the silence.
Just immerse yourself in the quiet, just be, and you will find it.
Stop avoiding the quiet moments, the stillness, the silent times where everything in your life pauses...because that is where the treasure lies and waits for you.
