I know the answer to life!

I know how you can stop the struggle and find complete peace in your life.




Your life is a struggle simply because you are not in the here and now.


I know that notion seems way too obvious and easy to dismiss, but the three simple words - BE HERE NOW - are the answer to everything.


I know it's something that is said all the time - stay present, be in the now, focus on this moment.


But most people don't actually understand what that means.


It sounds so obvious, so incredible simple, so easy.


But in actual fact it's a very hard thing to do. It takes practise, it takes willingness to do things, feel things and see things differently.


It took me a very long time to grasp the true freedom of this concept, trust me, it's taken me a lot of patience, feeble attempts and concentration and I still forget all the time.

But when I do remember it changes my life and I feel only contentment, peace and bliss.


BE HERE NOW is like the Jedi Force. It is the answer to everything. If you can nail being in the moment, then you can overcome anything and you can find a happiness that will completely blow your mind, because once you’ve mastered this concept nothing will ever be able to pull you under again.


My most beloved and favourite spiritual teacher is Ram Dass, if you don't know him then you should do some research, because he completely changed my perspective on life and his teachings are a big part of why I am so ridiculously happy.



'In March 1961, Professor Richard Alpert – later renamed Ram Dass – held appointments in four departments at Harvard University. He published books, drove a Mercedes and regularly vacationed in the Caribbean. By most societal standards, he had achieved great success… And yet he couldn’t escape the feeling that something was missing.

Psilocybin and LSD changed that. During a period of experimentation, Alpert peeled away each layer of his identity, disassociating from himself as a professor, a social cosmopolite, and lastly, as a physical being. Fear turned into exaltation upon the realisation that at his truest, he was just his inner-self: a luminous being that he could trust indefinitely and love infinitely. And thus, a spiritual journey commenced. Alpert headed to India where his guru renamed him Baba Ram Dass – “servant of God.” He was introduced to mindful breathing exercises, hatha yoga, and Eastern philosophy. If he found himself reminiscing or planning, he was reminded to “Be Here Now.” He started upon the path of enlightenment, and has been journeying along it ever since.'

Your struggle comes from somewhere other than the here and now.


The things your struggle with, the thoughts, feelings, anxiety, fears, are never about this exact moment - they are a memory or regret of the past, or the expectation, dread or fear of the future.


Don't believe me?


Okay, let's test the theory out then.


Think about something that's going on for you right now that you're struggling with. Perhaps it's something to do with Covid, a disagreement with someone, a problem, or a fear?


Now - think about where you are, right now, in this exact moment as you’re reading this post.


Where are you exactly? Are you outside? Are you at home? If so which room are you in? Perhaps you're on the train or in a cafe?


What exactly do your surroundings look like?


Don’t just have a quick glance , really have a look around you. Take everything in - the colour of the walls, the subtle movement of the grass, the objects, pictures or people nearby.


Look at the sky and how it moves, or look at all the treasures on your bathroom shelf or in your sitting room, look around you and drink in every tiny little detail.


What can you hear?


The television maybe? Music playing? What kind of music? Maybe you can hear someone's conversation? Can you hear what they're saying?


And how does your body feel right now? Do you have any aches or pains?


Are you relaxed? Tense? Sleepy? Energised? Bored?


What’s the weather like? Is it cold, is there a chill in the air? Is it humid? Cloudy? Is the sun shining?


Are you cold, warm, sweaty or is your body temperature just right?


Now - in all that time when I was asking you to be present, to just BE HERE NOW…were you worrying about that thing, that struggle, I asked you to think about earlier?


When I was asking you questions about your present environment, asking you to put all your focus on the here and now, were you feeling any of that struggle?


Or did the struggle, the problem, the pain, the fear, momentarily disappear whilst you were busy being present?


That, my friends, is the miracle and power of being here now!


It’s the key to everything.


Do you see?


I try and remind myself to BE HERE NOW every moment I can, but sadly, most of the time I forget. That's the point though! Because by reminding ourselves every moment we can, we bring ourselves back to the present to just BE HERE NOW.


Happiness and healing happens the more and more you bring yourself to this very moment and let go of the past or the future.


If we could all just keep trying to remind ourselves to BE HERE NOW we’d feel a hell of a lot less struggle, pain and fear and whole lot more love, peace and happiness.


It ain’t rocket science folks but it is the answer to life.
